 age ratings

 All films are classified by age and this is set by the British Board of Film Classification. They are a not-for-profit organisation thats aim is to protect the public from innapropriate content and sensetive material. They classify films into these categories:

 U/Universal : This means the film is suitable for all and contains no innapropriate content.

 

PG/Parental Guidance : The film is suitable for general viewing but may have scenes unsuitable for young children

 

12/12a : The film is unsuitable for children under 12. 12a is cinema specific and means children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. 

 

15 : Only people aged 15 or over can buy or view these film in the cinbema. 

 

18/R18 : Only suitable for those 18 or over. No admittance or sales to anyone younger. A R18 or Restricted 18 is a legally restriced classification for a film containing consensual sex or strong fetish material. This is only to be sold in liscenced sex shops or cinemas and not sold long distance ie. over the phone.
